Dr. Michael Milton

Dr. Michael A. Milton was elected by the officers of Reformed Theological Seminary to become Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer in September, 2010.

Dr. Milton had previously accepted the call to become President and Professor of Practical Theology of Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte in December, 2007. He began his duties in February 2008. Dr. Milton assumed the presidency of RTS Charlotte after serving as Senior Pastor of the historic First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. He was the 12th pastor there in 173 years and conducted a ministry that included a radio and television outreach called Faith for Living. The multi media ministry continues at RTS. Faith for Living is heard on select radio stations and through the Internet. The television program began airing on NRB Network, Direct TV channel 378, on January 3rd, 2011, broadcasting nation-wide on Mondays at 0830 EST and Fridays at 0630 EST.

Prior to answering the call as President, RTS Charlotte, Dr. Milton served sixteen years in the business world (Dow Chemical and Ashland Chemical) and was also a top secret Navy linguist. He interned under D. James Kennedy at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church and after seminary planted two churches: Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, Kansas; and Kirk O the Isles Church in Savannah, Georgia. He also founded Westminster Academy Christian School in Overland Park and was the administrative head and an adjunct professor in practical theology at Knox Theological Seminary. A graduate of Mid America Nazarene University (Kansas) and Knox Theological Seminary, in 1998 he earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in theology and religious studies from The University of Wales (UK).

Dr. Milton's personal story of moving from orphan and prodigal son to understanding Gods grace and receiving His adoption through Jesus Christ forms a frequent motif for offering Christs healing to a broken generation. Often his sermons are illustrated with songs that he writes, sings, and performs with guitar. An author of 11 books, including an autobiography, What God Starts, God Completes, he has also composed and recorded three musical albums under the Music for Missions label.

In addition to his pastoral work, Dr. Milton holds a commission in the US Army Reserves as a chaplain, a ministry that he continues as an instructor at the US Army Chaplain Center and School. Serving on several boards and active in a number of civic organizations, he also remains involved in preaching and teaching in churches, conferences, and seminaries. Dr. and Mrs. Milton and their son reside in the Charlotte area.
