"Going the Second Mile" is the radio ministry of West Asheville Baptist Church in Asheville, North Carolina. Reverend Stanley Welch is our pastor-teacher for this broadcast. Pastor Welch received an associate degree from the Fruitland Bible Institute; and his Bachelor of Religious Studies and Masters of Biblical Studies from the Luther Rice University. He served as the associate pastor of the Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Rockingham, SC, for 5 years; and as senior pastor at the Blackwelder Park Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC, for 23 years. He also served as the president of the North Carolina Baptist State Convention from November 2005 - November 2007.  He and his lovely wife Melody, have 3 sons, Jamey (wife Ruthie), Joshua (wife Katie), and John; and 2 grandchildren, Gabriel and Caroline (children of Jamey and Ruthie).  Reverend Welch believes that the Word of God is inerrant, infallible, and inspired by God; and sees it as the sole authority for the Christian life and ministry. He also believes that evangelism and missions begin with the local church.
