"Growing In Grace" is the radio ministry of Severn Run Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Arch Van Devender is the pastor-teacher of this program.
Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi;
undergraduate degree in Physics at University of Southern Mississippi
(1968); Commissioned in US Navy (1968) and completed flight training at
NAS Beeville, TX. (1969); 23 years as Navy Pilot, flying A-7 Corsair II
Light Attack aircraft; Masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering at Naval
Postgraduate School, Monterrey, Ca. (1976); Retired from USN Dec. 1991;
Church planter as Licensed Ruling Elder, used by God to plant the Severn
Run E. P. Church, (first worship as mission church 1991, particularized
1993, ordained as first Pastor 1995 on completion of Seminary, MDiv
Chesapeake Theological Seminary, Baltimore, Md.) Arch is married (since
1969) to Judith (O'Neal) Van Devender. They have four sons, John A. (jr),
William R., Robert K. & Stephen P. They have 5 grand children - Laura,
Rose, Beth, Will (parents - Bill & Virginia) and John A. (III), (parents
John A. (jr) & Shannon). They live in Severna Park, MD. He is vitally
interested in all things theological, philosophical and pastoral. His
avocation is wood-working. He welcomes communication from any who have
interests or questions regarding virtually anything.
