Christ
Covenant Church was established in 1983 as a mission of the
Central Carolina Presbytery and a daughter church of Briarwood
Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Al.
The
congregation is assisted in its ministry by a staff of nearly
one hundred including pastors and directors and supports church
planting efforts in the Charlotte region and in several
countries, including France, Romania and Uganda.
Among the
church's associated ministries are Campus Outreach, now on five
college and university campuses in this region and in South
Africa where they serve on three campuses; SOAR youth sports
outreach reaching almost 1000 children each season and Covenant
Day School with an enrollment of more than 800 students in
grades K through 12.
Recognizing the strength of relationships among neighbors, the
congregation is moving to strengthen its ministry in the
communities with neighborhood gatherings and small groups
equipped for outreach and care as needed.
From its small beginning with just four families, Christ
Covenant has grown to a current membership of more than 2350
communing members and children.
Christ Covenant is a member of the Presbyterian Church in
America.
